IO Untethered

A while back, I wrote about how we were working on updating Solidus's order updating code to remove manipulative queries, making it possible to simulate order operations without writing them to the database.

That PR needs some cleanup, but I'm proud to announce that we got it fully working. My team at Super Good gathered in-person last week, split into teams, and worked through the remaining issues with the PR. It's not quite ready for prime time, but we've begun testing it against real applications and hope it'll make it into an upcoming release of Solidus.

There's still more that can be done to optimize the order updater, but this is a huge step in the right direction.

Now that Dead Code is only dropping every other week, I can't talk about the new website every week here in Skill Issue. Instead, I'll give you a little sneak preview: next week's episode features naked bodies.

Next episode is about disabling CSS. https://t.co/Ow7lCwfXQe

I hope you like power metal. I've finally made it far enough through my backlog of new releases that we're in 2025. Subnivium's Queen of Dreams is pure fun. The Wisconsin band channels Unleash the Archers' intensity while mixing in some progressives flourishes, creating infectiously catchy tracks like "Untethered" and the epic "Beneath the Ice and Snow".

I have a soft spot for power metal and this American band does an incredible job of bringing the energy while masquerading as a European power metal act. Give it a listen.
