Solidus has been downloaded more than 3 million times in the last 10 years!
It's amazing to look back at my journey with Solidus. During those early conversations about forking I had no idea that ten years later I wouldn't just be still working on the platform, that I'd be running a business specializing in it.
I know that for organizations that use Solidus, this probably isn't the reason they'd point to, but for me, Solidus has always been about the community. I've met a ton of wonderful people along the way. Besides being excellent humans, they've done some really cool stuff technically with the platform. I've learned a ton from them.
This week's episode of Dead Code featured Heydon Pickering. We chatted about his experiments with sabotaging web scrapers (particularly those of AI companies) and leading them to bogus content, without impacting the SEO of his site. It was a fun one.
I just wanted to call out a project he's been working on for a while now; he's writing a blog post about every HTML element. Curious about the code element? He's got a post for that. Last week I provide a pretty tame music recommendation. It was genuine, but this week we're going a different direction. I've been listening to a metric tonne of Spanish black/death metal band, Teitanblood. They shred.
Once you've spent some time with their latest release, From The Visceral Abyss, you'll be pleased to find that they are an established band with a solid back catalogue. I love finding bands like this. So much music for me to listen to.
